About

Hello. It's me, again. I know it's been awhile but I'm back with a new blog about music. The COVID-19 pandemic really changed a lot of things for me, as I'm sure it did you, but after spending the last year or so really getting back out at concerts, I've realized that I missed live music... also, all the music coverage I've been reading lately has just been terrible. I mean, it's really, really bad. The stuff they post on Pitchfork counts as content???? And what's with those review scores? Why can't they just use whole numbers?

Anyway, I'm sure you have some questions for me so let's get down to the nitty gritty.

Didn't you use to have some Cellophane website? Cell phone? Something like that? You went to shows like every night and always posted the best photos. What happened?

Yes, I used to run a site called celluloidannoyed.com. That was fun and I built a bit of a following over there but I also got sick of having to spell the website out to everyone I met and then explain the origins of the name.

I chose the name "some music blog" for my new site because, well, the thought of sending out an email to a press or label contact that begins "Hi, I'm Joe Cortez from some music blog..." made me laugh. Hard.

I did a quick check and it looks like there was an old Twitter account called Some Indie Music Blog that hadn't been updated since 2015 so I figured I was in my prima nocta-esque right to stake my claim and buy the damn domain, somemusicblog.com, and here we are.

What are you going to post here?

Live reviews and photos (if I actually manage to get a photo pass to a show every now and then), and album reviews. I'm planning on going a more thoughtful route with this one so the focus on the writing here (that also means, if you music sucks and I feel you've wasted my precious, precious time, I'm going to let everyone know).

I'm an amazing writer/photographer! Can I contri-

No. This site was designed for me and by me... like FUBU, only more elitist.

I'm in a band and I really like the cut of your jib. How do I email my stuff over to you for possible coverage?

Send it over here. I get a lot of emails and have an active life so, give me some time to get back to you.

Anything I didn't cover here? Shoot me a message!
